Small Biz Owners – Declare Independence by Hiring a Virtual Assistant

By Irene Williams • July 3rd, 2009

4th of July sparkler flagSelf-sufficiency.  Resourcefulness.  Independence.  As we’re celebrating the signing of the Declaration of our nation’s freedom, the root system of American ingenuity, stick-to-itiveness and enterprise is revealed.  We come from a long line of bootstrappers—motivated individuals who pull up from adversity by their own wits and will to move forward.  Our nation was born by declaring autonomy, liberty, the ability to self-rule.  Thank you very much.

Perhaps that’s why there’s a fair lot of us these days who fail to delegate.  In our modern work-a-day world, it’s not uncommon to see some of us take “independence” out of bounds.  We begin at “self-sufficient” and veer to “ control freak” or “workaholic” all too soon.  With a thread of generational commitment to autonomy, we somehow presume we can actually do it all—all by ourselves.  We quietly ascribe to the thought that seeking help will negate our independence.  (…And, admittedly, we might think we can save some money if we keep all the tasks to ourselves.  It’s very ‘American’ to maximize profitability, too. )

Perhaps it’s time for a new declaration, specifically for the small business owners, entrepreneurs and sole proprietors who are often so busy pulling themselves up by the bootstraps that they get a too strapped to enjoy life. For those too focused on putting out fires at work to take time to enjoy fireworks on July 4th, it’s time to declare “virtual independence” by taking action to get help for their businesses.  And that can be done very easily by retaining virtual assistants or virtual receptionists.

Our enterprising forefathers would’ve signed on for this in a heartbeat if they’d have had the technology!  Virtual assistants and virtual receptionists work remotely, yet seamlessly, for business owners of all types and stripes.  Virtual assistants and receptionists field incoming calls, maintain schedules and book appointments, supplement in customer service, create correspondence and take on time-consuming tasks such as market research or lead fulfillment projects.  Entrepreneurs who hire on the professional assistance of qualified virtual staffers experience true liberty.  They have the freedom to pursue their priorities and focus on their core skills to grow their businesses (which certainly helps boost profitability in the long run).

Great business people—great leaders—are often excellent delegators, unafraid to bring in reinforcements to ensure jobs are done and done well.  Even leaders who led in our nation’s declaration were upheld by support through a network, a nation, of talented individuals that shared the goal of national liberty.  The collective effort can accomplish amazing things, whether building a nation or growing a business.

Ready to declare your “virtual independence?”  Tap into your innate resourcefulness to find practical solutions and professional support for your business.  The Davinci Virtual website is a great place to begin your search for assistance.  Get the help you need—and deserve—so that you can enjoy a new level of liberty and independence every day.
