You’ve heard of the Federal Clean Air Act.  It was enacted in the 1990s, requires companies with 100 or more employees in heavily polluted regions to develop plans to reduce automobile commuting by 25 percent. As a result, since the Act went into effect in 1996, the number of telecommuters and companies using virtual office space in the business world have dramatically increased. It’s not just a trendy thing to be “green” (or environmentally-friendly), it’s also cost-effective and following federal law.

It’s worth noting that by complying with the Federal Clean Air Act, many companies who use virtual office space their employee productivity levels rise with a virtual office or telecommuting arrangement because employees work in familiar surroundings and save time traveling to and from the office.

Keep in mind that your business location would leave you out.  Many small businesses use an environmentally-friendly business solution even when located in a non-urban region. Using virtual office space enables even those remotely-located companies to be green and save on utilities and other operating costs, while their employees save on commuting costs (and use less gas).

Virtual Office Space Tip: Remember that while the total daily hours worked at home in a virtual office space are much longer than it could ever be in an office, but due to the reduced commute and comfortable surroundings, employee morale and productivity are also increased.
